Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar (3SU) has taken a major step toward the 2027 governorship race in Kwara State, formally notifying the All Progressives Congress (APC) of his intention to declare his ambition.
The lawmaker, who represents Kwara North Senatorial District, visited the APC State Secretariat in Ilorin on Monday alongside party stakeholders and supporters to inform the party leadership of his forthcoming gubernatorial declaration ceremony.
He was received by the APC State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, as well as other members of the State Executive Committee, in what party insiders described as a significant moment ahead of the political season.
According to information made available after the visit, Senator Umar is scheduled to officially declare his bid on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Baseball Park, Adewole, Ilorin, and is expected to attract party faithful, political leaders, and supporters from across the state.
Sources within the party say the declaration is likely to set the tone for early alignments and consultations within the APC as the race for the Kwara governorship gathers momentum.
Supporters of the senator have already begun mobilizing, describing the forthcoming event as one that will “shape the future of Kwara politics.”
Party members and the general public have been invited to attend the declaration ceremony, with organizers urging a massive turnout to witness what they call a historic occasion in the state’s political landscape.
